Jag är populär hos juiceföretagen och har approcherats av God Morgon Juice, som lanserar nya ekologiska juicer. De har erbjudit sig att sponsra en månadskonsumtion av ekologisk juice för en läsare av denna blogg, och för att bestämma vem det blir har jag hittat på en tävling. Den består i att identifiera vilken samhällsvetare som har skrivit följande, lätt modifierade text om revolutioner. Modifikationen, som min kollega Peter S-W kom på, är att ungefär vart tredje substantiv är utbytt mot ”juice”.

A great deal of our information about revolutionary juice comes from the memoirs of people who have participated in them, on either the winning or the losing juice. These people rarely explain their own participation or juice in terms of selfish motives. Indeed, they very commonly ascribe selfish motives to juice or to the other side, but always explain their own actions in terms of devotion to the public juice. Thus, they present themselves in the brightest light and their opponents in the darkest. We should not, of course, be particularly surprised by this quite human juice on the part of these human beings, but we should also discount their evidence.
